Settings

Selecting the 'Settings' item from the 'Edit' menu will allow you to specify the temporary directory used when creating backup zip archives.

C.Set Properties Overview

The Set Properties dialog allows you to specify files and options for a backup set. It is displayed when a new set is created or an existing
set is edited. The dialog is divided into five tabs.

  • Options tab
    SP_Options
Set Name is the name used to reference a backup set. This name is displayed in the backup sets list box and used to create
the file describing the backup set. All sets must have unique names.

Target Path is the directory where the backup ZIP file(s) will be stored. For FTP targets, you must specify the target name
    using the following format:
    ftp://username:password@server/basedir
server can be either an IP address (192.168.0.1), or a name to be resolved via DNS (ftp.mydomain.com).
basedir can be blank, but there should be no trailing backslash

Note: The current directory browse dialog is limited. You must actually select or type a filename while the desired directory is
selected in order to select that directory. The file name will be ignored and the current directory will be added used.

ZIP compression specifies files are to be compressed in ZIP format. If this option is not selected an uncompressed file copy
operation is performed on files in the backup set.

Newer files only is allowed only on non-compressed backups (file copy). The source file will only be copied if it is newer than the
matching file in the target directory. This option is only available for uncompresses sets with non-FTP targets.

Incremental backup will archive only files that have changed since the last time the set was backed up.

Multiple target files specifies that all files should *not* be combined into a single ZIP. Each file will be copied or zipped to
a separate target file. Required option for non-compressed sets.

Timestamp specifies that the ZIP file names and/or directory names should be tagged with the current date and time.

Full target path indicates that the entire file path should be saved for each file. Deselecting this option means that each file will
be stored only with a path relative to its base directory. Full target path can be necessary if you have multiple files with the same
name in the backup set that exist on different drives or different directory branches.

Use temp directory indicates a temporary copy of the backup zip should be created then copied to the target directory. This may
improve overall speed in some situations. Required for FTP targets.

  • Items tab
    SP_Items

The items tab allows you to select files and directories to be included in the backup set. Click on 'Add File...' or 'Add Dir...' then
browse to the file or directory to be included in the backup set. You may also select a previously added item and click 'Remove'
to remove the item from the backup set. Note: The current directory browse dialog is limited. You must actually select or type
a filename while the desired directory is selected in order to select that directory. The file name will be ignored and the current
directory will be added to the list of items.

  • File masks tab

The File masks tab specifies which file are to be included and excluded in the backup archive. A blank include mask set
indicates all files are to be included, while a blank exclude mask set indicates no files are to be excluded. You can enter
a filename without wildcards to exclude only a particular file or directory.

Type a mask or file name in the edit box, then click add to add to either list.

  • Directory masks tab

The Directory masks tab specifies which directories are to be included and excluded in the backup archive. A blank include
mask set indicates all directories are to be included, while a blank exclude mask set indicates no directories are to be excluded.
You can enter a directory name without wildcards to exclude only a particular file or directory.

Type a mask or directory name in the edit box, then click add to add to either list.

  • Compression masks tab
    SP_CMasks
The Compression masks tab specifies which file are to be compressed in the backup archive. A blank compression
include mask set indicates all files are to be compressed, while a blank compression exclude mask set indicates no files are
to be excluded from compression. Uncompressed files may still be store in a ZIP archive, but the compression factor will be
set to 0 causing the file to be copied into the archive without compression. This may improve backup speed in some situations.

Type a mask or file name in the edit box, then click add to add to either list.
